For the Atlanta gluten-free set, Metro Fresh on Monroe now offers gluten-free muffins. They are very tasty and have no weird gluten-free texture - in fact, most people that buy them have no idea they are gluten-free! There is also a new location of Metro Fresh at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, but I'm not sure if they have the new muffins there.
